Surfers’ Point.

Surfers’ Point is the reason Margaret River has grown from a small coastal town to a region filled with the spirit of adventure and further complimented with wineries, breweries, art galleries and festivals. The famous left-hand reef break is synonymous with huge waves and legend surfers that were attracted to the area in the 70’s. It soon became a hotspot for travellers looking for adventure.  The surf break is best suited to experienced surfers only, but when the swell is huge, it’s a great spot for non-surfers to go down and watch the surfers take on the massive waves from the viewing platforms.

Boranup Forest.

In sharp contrast to the rugged coast is Boranup Forest, a vast Karri forest rich with bird life, wildflowers, orchids, fungi, walking trails, picnic spots and breathtaking tall trees (some over 60m high!) The Karri Lookout on the eastern side of Caves Road is an ideal spot to enjoy and photograph this amazing forest as it undulates across the valley. Boranup Drive is a fantastic tourist drive with its hard limestone base it is suitable for two-wheel drive vehicles. The drive winds its way through stunning forest and loops back to Caves Road.

Jewel Cave.

Jewel Cave is the biggest show cave in Western Australia, with three massive chambers of incredible beauty. This crystal-encrusted cave is the most recently opened of all the show caves in the Margaret River region.

Jewel Cave is an extremely well decorated cave, containing many beautiful examples of delicate helictites, cave coral, pendulites, a very large stalagmite called ‘The Karri Forest’, and beautiful examples of flowstone such as ‘The Frozen Waterfall’ and ‘the Organ-pipes’.

Fossilised remains of several Tasmanian Tigers or 'Thylacines' have been discovered within Jewel Cave's chambers, safely preserved more than 3000 years after the unusual marsupial became extinct on mainland Australia. There is a skeleton of a thylacine on display in the Jewel Cave centre.

A short walk trail meanders through the forest above the cave, passing the interesting 'original entrance' to the cave. Lunch or light refreshments are available at the Jewel Cave Cafe, complimented by views of the surrounding karri forest.

Wineries, Cafes and Breweries.

Although Margaret River is rich in natural wonder, there is also a diverse and wonderful array of wineries and vineyards to visit, plus restaurants, cafes, kids’ events and activities, art galleries, farm-shops, fruit farms, cheese and chocolate factories and so much more to take in as well! There are restaurants and wineries catering to top end type lunches and dinners such as Aravina Estate, Leeuwin Estate and Vasse Felix and then more family friendly style like Olio Bello, Brew House, Colonial Brewing and La Scapetta Tratorria in Margaret River town. There are plenty of cafes and take away outlets in town too.
